Congressman Dan Goldman Announced as Chair of Congressional Dads Caucus Gun Violence Prevention Working Group
Father of Five, Former Federal Prosecutor; Goldman Takes on Leadership Role in Combating Gun Violence Epidemic
Goldman Also Serves as Vice-Chair on the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman was today announced as the Chair of the Congressional Dads Caucus’ Gun Violence Working Group for the 118th Congress.
“The most important role in my life is as a father to my five kids whose safety I fear for every single day that I send them off to school,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “Gun violence is a public health crisis in this country and the number one threat to the lives of children in America, with kids across the country learning active shooter drills before they learn their multiplication tables. Ending the scourge of gun violence must be a national priority, and I thank my fellow Congressional dads for their trust in selecting me to lead as the new Chair of the Dads Caucus Gun Violence Prevention Working Group. I am humbled by this responsibility and pledge to use every tool and resource at my disposal to make measurable progress on the defining issue of our time.”
Congressman Goldman cofounded the Dads Caucus earlier this year to advocate for policies that help and protect working families including comprehensive paid family leave, increased childcare, and expanding early childhood education.
Congressman Goldman is a father of five children and knows that the scourge of gun violence is one of the greatest public health crises facing our nation. Gun violence is now the leading cause of death for children in America, nearly 10 children per day. Gun violence is the number one issue that Congressman Goldman hears from his constituents.
As chair of the new Dads Caucus Gun Violence Prevention Working Group, Goldman will bring his experience as a father and former federal prosecutor to bear in leading on common sense solutions to the crisis like an assault weapons ban, universal background checks, and improved Red Flag laws that get guns off our streets, elevate the importance of gun violence interrupter programs, and tackle the root causes of violence in our communities.
Congressman Goldman is also Vice Chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.
