WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), along with Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46), Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) today led 50 members of Congress in demanding immediate investigations into alarming reports that U.S. citizens are being wrongfully detained and deported by federal immigration agents under the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement policies. In a letter sent to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) internal oversight offices, the lawmakers raised urgent concerns about a growing pattern of civil rights violations against U.S. citizens during immigration sweeps.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today celebrated the Senate’s passage of his bipartisan ‘Chief Herbert D. Proffitt Act,’ which would ensure the families of law enforcement officers who are killed as a result of their work on behalf of their communities are not unjustly denied benefits due to arbitrary retirement status restrictions. Under current law, families of officers who have retired but are later targeted and killed because of their past service are denied death benefits under the Public Safety Officers’ (PSOB) program. The unanimous Senate vote sets the legislation on a glide path to final passage by the House when members come back in session in September. Congressman Goldman introduced the legislation with Congressman Barr (KY-06) in February.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) secured the inclusion of real-time fraud detection and prevention for SNAP Eletronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) transactions in the FY26 Agricultural Appropriations bill, which would direct the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) to adopt industry-standard electronic fraud detection that would pause suspicious transactions and secure SNAP EBT cards, preventing SNAP EBT theft before it happens. Employing real-time fraud detection would prevent benefits from being stolen by automatically blocking potentially suspicious transactions, such as when someone is attempting to use a card several states away from the owner’s home.

"In a further effort to conceal the Epstein Files to protect President Trump, the Department of Justice is yet again using the criminal justice system for political purposes by belatedly and improperly seeking cooperation from Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence on convictions for conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
