“For the past several days in New York’s 10th Congressional District in Lower Manhattan, masked, plain-clothes Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have been stationed in the lobby of the federal building that houses immigration court in order to arrest immigrants coming out of court so they can be deported on an expedited basis. These arrests are part of a coordinated effort within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where DHS lawyers move to dismiss deportation proceedings against these immigrants – most of whom do not speak English nor have legal representation -- in order to place them in a different, “expedited” deportation proceeding.

"We are encouraged to see humanitarian aid entering Gaza again. It must be disbursed swiftly and safely to Palestinian civilians and not Hamas, which has been stealing aid since the start of the war. Since October 7, Israel has facilitated the entry of 1.78 million tons of humanitarian aid into Gaza. This includes almost 450,000 tons of aid that entered during the last ceasefire period. This aid is essential to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, so that the primary focus of the international community can return to releasing the hostages that remain in captivity.

“Patriotic Americans must not be fooled: by charging a sitting member of Congress on completely bogus charges, the Trump Administration is weaponizing the Department of Justice in an unprecedented way to silence and intimidate his political opposition.
“This is how banana republics and authoritarian dictatorships work, not the oldest democracy in the world.

“A month ago, the Trump Administration arbitrarily stalled New York’s clean energy transition by placing a stop work order on the Empire Wind 1 wind-farm project, and along with it the promise of 1,500 well-paying union jobs, hundreds of millions of dollars in supply chain investments, and clean energy to 500,000 New York homes.
“But today, after relentless advocacy from a coalition of elected officials, organized labor, and advocacy groups, we’re back on track.

“Nearly 40 years ago, Congress passed a federal ban on the sale of machine guns, recognizing that the risk these weapons of war pose to our communities is unacceptably high. Last Friday, the Trump administration effectively lifted that ban and legalized machine guns across the United States.
“By allowing the sale and civilian use of Forced Trigger Resets (FTR), Donald Trump has given any gun-owner the ability to turn their AR-15 into a fully automatic weapon capable of firing 400 rounds a minute.
