’Dads Caucus Father’s Day Resolution’ Reaffirms Congressional Support for Fathers and the Integral Role They Play in Children’s Lives

Highlights Policies Including the Expanded Child Tax Credit, Universal Paid Family Leave, and Affordable Childcare to Uplift Working Families

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today joined fellow members of the Congressional Dads Caucus in introducing a resolution to recognize Fathers’ Day and the integral role fathers play in their children's lives. The resolution affirms Congressional support for policies central to the Dads’ Caucus mission of uplifting working families including paid family and medical leave, child tax credit expansion, and affordable child care.

“Any parent knows that raising kids is never easy, but government has the ability to uplift working families and ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “As a father of five myself, I know how vital a role dads play in ensuring that their children are set up for success. I am proud to be a member of the Dad’s Caucus as we continue to fight for policies that support our working families, uplift children out of poverty, and ensure that every child and parent have the opportunity to pursue the American Dream.”

The ’Dads Caucus Father’s Day Resolution’ seeks to recognize the integral role fathers play in their children’s lives and commemorates the third Sunday in June as Fathers’ Day. Central to the mission of the Dads’ Caucus, this resolution also acknowledges that fathers can, and should, be celebrated and supported as an integral part of families and communities.

As a member of the Congressional Dads Caucus, Congressman Goldman has made fighting for policies that uplift working families a priority during his first term in Congress.

Earlier this month, Congressman Goldman cosponsored the Job Protection Act to expand the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to protect millions of workers who are currently unable to take time off to care for themselves or their families.

Last month, Congressman Goldman cosponsored the Universal School Meals Program Act to provide free breakfast, lunch, and dinner to every student, expanding on the success of the universal free lunch programs implemented during the pandemic and bringing long-term relief to millions of food-insecure families. He also cosponsored the Child Care for Working Families Act to lower the cost of child care for working families by capping child care costs at 7 percent of a family’s income.
