The award will be used to upgrade the facilities needed to support the growing needs of Makor’s current and future residents. This project will include accessibility, energy-efficiency, beautification, and health and safety upgrades to provide better accommodations for individuals with special needs and disabilities.
“To support Makor’s incredible work in Borough Park, I am proud to have secured $643,600 for upgrades to their facilities,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “Makor and its dedicated staff provide health care, residences, and mental health treatment to Brooklynites in need of specialized care and accommodations. I’m looking forward to supporting their mission of service to all New Yorkers.”
Tzally Seewald, Chief Operating Officer of Makor Care and Services Network said, “On behalf of Makor Care & Services Network, we are so grateful to Congressman Goldman for his support and advocacy. The funds from this grant will greatly impact and improve the quality of life of the individuals with special needs and disabilities that we serve.”
The award will be used to make upgrades and repairs to both the inside and outside of one of Makor’s major residential facilities. The outdoor space will be renovated to accommodate residents with varying disabilities, including residents who use a wheelchair. The indoor renovations will include improving bathroom accessibility, kitchen updates, and installing new fire-rated emergency doors.
