Statement from Congressman Dan Goldman on Asian American And Pacific Islander Heritage Month

“May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to recognize the countless contributions of the AAPI community in New York’s 10th Congressional District and around the country.

“New York’s 10th Congressional District is home to one of the largest, fastest growing, and most vibrant AAPI communities in the country – from lower Manhattan’s historic Chinatown to Sunset Park’s thriving Chinatown.

“This is not only a time for celebration, but also for acknowledgement that we have not yet done enough to address the record levels of anti-Asian hate crimes that continue to traumatize our communities. We must seize this opportunity to recommit to ensuring that the safety and security of our neighbors is government’s highest priority.

“AAPI New Yorkers have for too long gone underrepresented and underserved in American politics, and as a proud member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Executive Board, I am committed to serving and elevating the unique experiences and needs of the AAPI community in New York City."
