Statement from Congressman Dan Goldman on Ethics Report on George Santos
Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today issued the following statement after the House Ethics Committee released its long-awaited report of the investigation into the conduct of George Santos.
“More than ten months after Congressman Torres and I filed a complaint with the House Ethics Committee, the Committee has finally announced their findings and, and as I anticipated last December, concluded that George Santos defrauded his donors, filed false FEC reports, and repeatedly broke the law in order to fraudulently win his election last November.
“While this report provides more evidence of Santos’s brazen scheme to deceive the voters of the 3rd district of New York, we have long known the basic framework of his scheme based on Santos’s own admissions of his lies and misrepresentations. Now that Republicans no longer have any fictional excuse to protect Santos in order to preserve their narrow majority, I hope they will join Democrats in expelling him from Congress immediately.
"Upon returning to Washington following the Thanksgiving break, I intend to file a motion to expel Santos from Congress once and for all.
“It is time for the people of NY-03 to have real representation, and that starts with the immediate removal of George Santos.”
