Statement from Congressman Dan Goldman on the Expulsion of George Santos from the House of Representatives

December 1, 2023

Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today released the following statement after the House of Representative’s historic vote to expel Congressman George Santos (NY-03) from Congress. Earlier this morning Congressman Goldman was joined by constituents of former Congressman George Santos, the Concerned Citizens of NY-03 to advocate for Santos’ expulsion. Congressman Goldman submitted the original complaint to the Ethics Committee that resulted in the damning 56-page report from the Committee that preceded today’s vote.

“For 11 months, House Republicans wrapped their arms around an admitted fraudster, liar, and thief. For the sole reason of protecting their narrow majority, Republican leadership abandoned the people of New York’s Third Congressional District, leaving them without real representation in Congress.

“Even today, in the face of mountains of evidence proving George Santos’ gross misconduct, deceptions and outright fraud, Republican leadership, including New York Representative Elise Stefanik, and more than half of House Republicans voted to keep George Santos in Congress.

“Despite their best efforts, the Congress of the United States won today. But more importantly, the people of NY-03 will now have a real representative in the House.”
