New York, NY – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today issued the following statement on the future of offshore wind in New York.

“Once again, New York is leading the country in support for offshore wind.

“In the last week alone, Governor Hochul and New York State have quickly accelerated the timeline for the 5th offshore wind project solicitation and committed $500 million in grant funding to support supply chain development for the industry.

"And it's not just State government that is putting promises into action. The Biden Administration's expected sale of more lease area in the NY Bight by 2027 is a clear indication that the offshore wind industry isn’t just here to stay – it’s rapidly expanding.

"Our commitment to offshore wind in New York is a bet on our future – an investment in cleaner air for our kids, better jobs for our communities, and a new paradigm of energy independence that will end our reliance on the whims of America’s geopolitical rivals.

“Our commitment will not waver. I have never been more optimistic about New York’s future as the offshore wind capital of America.”
