Statement from Congressman Dan Goldman on Hunter Biden’s Offer to Testify Publicly Before the Oversight Committee

“Rather than run and hide from a subpoena like Donald Trump, Jim Jordan and House Republicans do, Hunter Biden has offered to testify in public, under oath, so the American people can see for themselves what he has to say.

“Chairman Comer and House Oversight Republicans have a deeply troubling track record of manipulating closed-door witness testimony to mislead and gaslight the American public with disinformation about President Biden. Given the abject failure of the first and only public ‘impeachment’ hearing, it is therefore no surprise that Chairman Comer does not want the American people to hear directly from Hunter Biden and instead wants to control what the public learns of his testimony.

“Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and Chairman Comer has an obligation to be transparent with the American people. If the evidence to support his baseless assertions exists, then he should have no fear of the American people seeing it for themselves, unvarnished and unmanipulated.

“If Chairman Comer insists on hiding his work behind closed doors and refuses to accept Hunter Biden's offer to testify publicly, then he is explicitly acknowledging that Hunter Biden's testimony will expose this bogus ‘impeachment inquiry’ for the politically motivated, baseless sham that it is.”
