Statement from Congressman Dan Goldman on President Joe Biden’s Executive Actions to Address Gun Violence
Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today released the following statement commending President Joe Biden’s Executive Order to combat emerging firearms threats such as ghost guns and improve school-based active shooter drills. The Biden-Harris administration also announced several federal agency and department actions to combat the gun violence epidemic including efforts to promote safe storage, the implementation of Emergency Risk Protection Orders (Red Flag Laws), and increased collaboration between states to strengthen the background check process.
“As the gun violence epidemic ravages our country, I am grateful that the Biden-Harris Administration continues to do everything in its power to combat gun violence and make our communities safer. Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children in America – cars have gotten safer while guns have not.
“On behalf of parents across the United States, I am thrilled that President Joe Biden is putting our children’s safety first. Today’s Executive Order and accompanying agency directives demonstrate the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to ending the gun violence epidemic once and for all.
“Today's announcement is just the beginning. We must continue to fight for our kids, our families, and our communities’ safety and I look forward to working alongside this administration every step of the way.”
Congressman Dan Goldman is Vice Chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force and Chair of the Congressional Dads Caucus Gun Violence Prevention Working Group.
