Congressman Dan Goldman joined Congressman John Larson (CT-01) in sending a letter to Acting Social Security Administration (SSA) Commissioner Leland Dudek urging him to halt Trump-Musk's plan to purge Social Security personnel. Earlier this month, Dudek announced plans to consolidate ten SSA regional offices down to four and cut 7,000 workers. Elon Musk promoted their plan on The Joe Rogan Experience, dismissing the Social Security benefits 70 million Americans rely on to make ends meet as “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time.”

Congressman Goldman is committed to protecting Social Security for the millions of Americans who rely on it. Last Congress, Goldman cosponsored the ‘Social Security 2100 Act,’ which would increase benefit payments for current and new Social Security beneficiaries, protect beneficiaries against inflation, reduce taxes on Social Security benefits, and further bolster benefits of Social Security. This bill would also extend the solvency of Social Security by at least ten years and potentially decades. This is crucial to extend the date at which benefits would need to be cut by 20 percent due to shortfalls. The Social Security 2100 Act would pay for these improvements by requiring millionaires and billionaires to pay the same rate into Social Security as every other American.
