Congressman Dan Goldman Works to Expand the Child Tax Credit
Congressman Dan Goldman joined Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) in introducing the ‘American Family Act,’ which would codify the expired, COVID-19-era expanded monthly Child Tax Credit. Passed on a temporary basis in Congressional Democrats’ American Rescue Plan, the expanded Child Tax Credit reached more than 61 million children and lifted nearly 4 million out of poverty in 2021 alone.
The legislation would establish a new fully refundable tax credit with monthly advances, relieving working families of some financial burden and providing better support for low-income households.
Congressman Goldman remains committed to fighting for policies that uplift working families. Earlier this month, the Congressman cosponsored the ‘Caring for All Families Act,’ which would expand the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). This legislation would protect millions of workers who are currently unable to take time off to care for themselves or their families. Gaps in FMLA coverage leave nearly 2.6 million workers each year unable to take necessary family or medical leave, fearing job loss if they do.
