Congressman Dan Goldman joined Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) in introducing the ‘National Council on African American History and Culture Act of 2025,’ which would establish a 12-person National Council on African American History and Culture to educate, preserve, and celebrate Black history and culture.

The Council would advise the National Endowment for the Humanities on how to best amplify the work of Black creators, strengthen educational programs to ensure Black history and culture is recognized, and allocate critical resources dedicated to preserving Black history.

Congressman Goldman is committed to preserving Black history in New York and across the nation. In January 2025, the Congressman cosponsored the ‘Black History is American History Act,’ which would mandate the inclusion of Black history as a required component of the American History and Civics Academies’ competitive grants program administered by the U.S. Department of Education.
