Congressman Dan Goldman Works to Protect Homeowners Against Natural Disasters
Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Congressman Mike Thompson (CA-04) and Congressman Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) in introducing the ‘Disaster Resiliency and Coverage Act,’ which would provide incentives to homeowners in disaster-prone regions to fortify their properties against wildfires and other risks.
The legislation would establish a grant program, administered through state governments, giving households in designated disaster-prone regions up to $10,000 for specified disaster resiliency work on their homes. It would also provide a 30% tax credit for qualified disaster risk mitigation activities conducted by individuals or businesses.
Congressman Goldman is committed to delivering housing assistance to survivors of natural disasters. In December 2024, the Congressman sent a letter to Congressional leadership calling for the end-of-year emergency disaster funding package to include H.R. 5324, ‘The Housing Survivors of Major Disasters Act.’ This legislation would provide a lifeline to disaster survivors nationwide by ensuring that housing assistance is equitable and accessible, particularly for the hardest-hit communities.
