Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Congressman John Larson (CT-01) in introducing the ‘Ending DOGE Conflicts Act,’ which would require Elon Musk, who is currently serving as a ‘Special Government Employee,’ to file a public financial disclosure and face review for his potential conflicts of interest by the independent Office of Government Ethics (OGE). In recent months, Musk has been granted sweeping authority to scrutinize and cancel billions in government contracts while his company receives $13 billion in government funds and is reportedly eyeing yet another $2.4 billion FAA contract.

“Elon Musk is the poster child of the Trump administration’s rampant corruption, Congressman Dan Goldman said. “Despite claiming to root out waste, fraud, and abuse, Musk has conveniently found zero waste or fraud in the $13 billion in government contracts his companies profit from every year, while he abuses his access to enrich himself with taxpayer money and cancels billions in essential contracts for programs the American people rely on. The glaring conflicts of interest are astounding. I’m proud to support this critical step and close the loopholes that have allowed DOGE and Musk to enrich themselves with taxpayer dollars.”

The ‘Ending DOGE Conflicts Act’ would prevent Special Government Employees like Musk from performing government work until their financial disclosure form has been submitted. In addition, the bill moves the conflict of interest remediation process for Special Government Employees to the independent Office of Government Ethics.

Congressman Dan Goldman is committed to combating Elon Musk’s and Donald Trump’s lawless attacks on our government.

Earlier this February, Goldman cosponsored the ‘Taxpayer Data Protection Act,’ which would prevent unlawful access to Americans’ most sensitive personal information in response to Elon Musk and Republicans’ power grab at the U.S. Treasury. The legislation would curb corruption and protect privacy by ensuring that only trusted public servants without conflicts of interest and with appropriate security clearances can access the Treasury Department’s most sensitive systems.

Last month, Goldman led a bipartisan and bicameral letter demanding National Institutes of Health (NIH) Acting Director, Matthew Memoli, immediately rescind his decision to cap NIH funding for “indirect costs,” which would slash funding for lifesaving medical research in New York and across the country.

This winter, Goldman led another letter demanding the Department of Justice Inspector General immediately open investigations into the ethical conflicts of Acting Deputy Attorney General Bove and Interim United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Ed Martin, both of whom have engaged in flagrant ethics violations that compromise their ability to act in the public interest and undermine public trust in the Department of Justice.
