Offshore Wind Caucus to Improve Offshore Wind Technology and Bring More Offshore Wind to the United States

Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today announced that he has joined the Congressional Offshore Wind Caucus, which pushes for policies to improve offshore wind technology, increase investment in the offshore wind workforce, and position the United States as a global leader in the industry.

“I remain committed to making sure that New York becomes the offshore wind capital of the United States,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “I am proud to join the Offshore Wind Caucus because – now more than ever – we must look for opportunities to invest in the offshore wind industry. As we look to build upon the successes of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, offshore wind technology will be vital in the development of America’s future green economy."

The Congressional Offshore Wind Caucus was founded in 2021 by Congressman Salud Carbajal (CA-24) and Former Congresswoman Elaine Luria to advocate for renewable energy solutions and promote offshore wind nation wide. The bipartisan caucus holds roundtables with community stakeholders and industry leaders to discuss challenges facing offshore wind development and sustainability.

Congressman Goldman is committed to bringing offshore wind projects to NY-10.

In June, Congressman Goldman and Mayor Eric Adams broke ground on the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal. When completed, it will be the largest offshore wind staging, operations, and maintenance port in the United States and the staging area for Empire Wind 1, the first offshore wind project to plug directly into the NYC power grid.

In March of last year, Goldman called on the Department of the Interior to bolster offshore wind energy production and ensure the timely approval of renewable energy solutions.
