Congressman Goldman Works to Reinstate Federal Employees Laid Off by DOGE
Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10) and 84 other members of Congress in introducing the Model Employee Reinstatement for Ill-advised Termination (MERIT) Act, which would reinstate federal employees, including probationary workers, who were terminated from federal agencies and departments as part of the ongoing mass layoffs carried out by Elon Musk and DOGE.
In addition to reinstating wrongfully terminated employees, the legislation would provide back pay and treat the employees as “involuntarily separated without cause”. This action would require the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to submit a report to Congress on the number of workers fired and other information about the layoffs.
Congressman Goldman is committed to fighting back against Elon Musk’s lawless power grift. Earlier this month, the Congressman joined the 'Ending the DOGE Conflicts Act' which would require Elon Musk to file a public financial disclosure and face review for his potential conflicts of interest by the independent of government ethics (OGE).
