Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02) in introducing the ‘SNAP Theft Protection Act,’ which aims to update the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to allow states to use existing SNAP funding to refund stolen benefits to victims of SNAP-related scams. While through the ‘Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023’ states were given this authority, when Fiscal Year 2024 ends in September, states will no longer be able to use federal funds to refund victims of SNAP theft.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05), and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) in introducing the ‘Expanding Access to Mental Health Services in Schools Act’ to address the urgent need for mental health professionals in schools. The bill would increase the number of mental health service providers in schools, particularly in high-need areas, by providing competitive grants to local educational agencies for recruitment, hiring, retention, and diversification of mental health service providers.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Congressman Earl Blumenauer (OR-03) in introducing the ‘Secure and Fair Enforcement Banking Act,’ which ensures that legal cannabis businesses would be able to access banking and financial services. Currently, many legal cannabis businesses are prohibited from using traditional and secure banking systems, opening the door to potential tax evasion and increasing the risk of being targeted by criminal activity.

Washington DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10), Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29), and Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis (FL-12) introduced the ‘Michelle Alyssa Go Act’ to increase the number of federal Medicaid-eligible in-patient psychiatric beds for individuals who are seeking treatment for both mental health and substance use disorders. This bipartisan legislation would also require mental health facilities that receive federal Medicaid funding to meet nationally recognized, evidence-based standards for mental health or substance use disorder programs.

Following FDA approval of Opill, a daily-use OTC oral birth control pill, this legislation would require private health insurers to cover the full costs for patients under their plans.
