Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today issued the following statement on President Trump's purges of the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights Staff:

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and other colleagues in introducing the ‘Protecting Sensitive Locations Act,’ which would prohibit immigration enforcement, including arrests, interviews, searches, and surveillance, at "sensitive locations," including medical or health care facilities, public and private schools, places of worship, courthouses, DMV offices, and locations that provide emergency services.

Washington, D.C. – As Trump continues to allude to and muse about staying in office beyond his constitutional limit of two presidential terms, reporters and everyday Americans are beginning to wake up to the fact that Trump may not be kidding after all. Back in November, Congressman Goldman saw Trump’s ‘jokes’ for what they were – trial balloons. In response, Goldman introduced a House Resolution urging his congressional colleagues to reaffirm the 22nd Amendment’s plain prohibition on any president serving beyond two elected terms in office. With Congressional Republicans now openly paving the way for Trump to run for president once more, Goldman’s urgent call for people to take Trump’s comments seriously is more relevant than ever.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today led a letter with representatives Hillary Scholten (MI-03), Stacey Plaskett (VI-AL), Mikie Sherill (NJ-11), Glen Ivey (MD-04), Maggie Goodlander (NH-02), and Shamari Figures (Al-02) demanding the Department of Justice Inspector General immediately open investigations into the ethical conflicts of Acting Deputy Attorney General Bove and Interim United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Ed Martin, both of whom have engaged in flagrant ethics violations that compromise their ability to act in the public interest and undermine public trust in the Department of Justice.
