Washington, D.C – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10), Congressman Rob Menendez (NJ-08) and Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) today led 10 of their colleagues in urging the Trump administration to use its recent designation of Latin American cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) to take aggressive action to stop the illegal trafficking of American firearms south across the Southern Border. In a letter addressed to Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, the lawmakers called for a coordinated federal response to stem the flow of hundreds of thousands of American firearms that arm violent drug cartels, fuel lawlessness along the Southern Border, and bring drugs into communities across the United States.

Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today at a House Judiciary Committee hearing condemned the impact of the Trump administration’s policies on the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in his district, where 17 inmates have died since 2020, in large part due to correctional officers’ inability to effectively oversee the prison due to staffing shortages. The Congressman highlighted how the Trump administration is undermining the safety and security of both prison inmates and staff by eliminating corrections officers’ collective bargaining agreements and staff retention bonuses.

“I am deeply disturbed about reports out of Western New York today that federal immigration agents stopped a bus carrying farm workers to target and detain union organizers. According to the reports, the agents carried a list of names of United Farm Workers union organizers who were then removed and detained while the bus and its remaining passengers were allowed to proceed to the worksite.

“The newly-released data from the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) 2024 Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents is tragic, unacceptable, and once again, record-breaking. The Audit tabulated a record 9,354 antisemitic incidents across the United States by the ADL last year – a 5% increase year over year and the highest number on record since ADL began tracking antisemitic incidents 46 years ago. This continued surge in antisemitism further represents a 344% increase over the annual average for the past five years and a 893% increase over the annual average for the past 10 years.

At his direction, the Department of Justice has canceled hundreds of previously allocated grants that supported youth gun violence prevention programs, opioid addiction treatment centers, and community initiatives aimed at protecting those most often targeted by hate crimes.

Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Congresswoman Diana Degette (CO-01), and 235 of their Democratic colleagues in filing an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of protecting the right of millions of Americans to receive reproductive health care from the provider of their choosing. The case, Medina v. Planned Parenthood of South Atlantic, challenges South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster’s attempt to block in-state Medicaid program beneficiaries from accessing reproductive health care at the Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSAT) affiliate’s health centers.

"Governor Shapiro is the Governor of Pennsylvania and has nothing to do with Israel’s foreign policy, yet he was targeted as an American Jew by a radicalized extremist who blames the Governor for Israel’s actions. That is textbook antisemitism.
